Intramural Sports

Blessed Sacrament Church sponsors an exciting intramural basketball program, manned completely by volunteers.  It starts with Kindergarten through fifth grades and all practices and games are on Sundays.  The majority of the children are Blessed Sacrament students but parish and neighborhood children are also represented.  There is a nominal charge each season which includes a t-shirt and a memorable banquet at the end of the season.

7th Grade Volleyball

Head Coach Meg Hollis says the 7th grade volleyball team has been preparing for the season for months.  Several of the players have been practicing with Club Savannah throughout the summer. The team is going to face stiff competition throughout the season and is looking for some leaders to set the tone for the year.   The schedule includes games against Savannah Christian, Country Day, Calvary and St. Andrew's as well as all of our deanery Catholic Schools.  Please come out and support your 7th grade volleyball team!!!

The Irish JV Opened the Season in Grand Style

The Irish JV opened the season in grand style when Travis Blackshear returned the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown.  The Irish followed that with a scoring drive to take a 14 to 0 lead into halftime.  The Irish defense was stifling throughout as the Raiders didn't get a first down until halfway through the third quarter.  The Irish offense held the ball through much of the second half and won 14 to 8.  The Raiders lone touchdown came with just 2 seconds left in the game.

BSS Irish Varsity vs. Savannah Christian Result

The Varsity played at Savannah Christian Thursday evening and fell to the Raiders by a score of 32-16.  The Irish fell behind the much more experienced Raiders early and trailed 24 to 0 at the half.  In the second half the Irish got their legs under them and executed two 50+ scoring drives both culminated by touchdown passes.

Though it was a tough start to the season this non-division game will only help us later in the season when we get into the division play.

Lady Irish 6th Grade Lose a Close Match to Calvary

The 6th grade girls brought a 1-0 record into tonight’s game with Calvary hoping to build on the momentum gained in their season opening win.  Unfortunately, the Lady Cavs got the better of the Irish tonight by taking the match 2 games to 0 in two hard fought / close games.  The Irish covered the floor much better tonight, showing improved aggressiveness to the ball.  This was a real step forward for the young ladies as they hit the ground strokes much stronger and the passing game made significant improvements against the Cavs.  Unfortunately, the stren
